A popular bar in Greenock, Inverclyde, is set for a rebrand and makeover in the coming months after the appointment of a new, experienced partner.

Located on the River Clyde, The Lithgows is owned by Hawthorn Leisure, which owns more than 700 community pubs in England, Scotland and Wales. The site has recently reopened following the easing of lockdown restrictions, however the pub will undergo a full refurbishment and rebrand in October, including a name change, becoming known as The Tipsy.

The pub will be run by local businessman, Andrew McQuade, who also runs a number of other popular destinations within the local area, including another venue called The Tipsy, in Paisley and The Cabin, Clydebank. Having worked in the leisure and hospitality industry for over 13 years, Andrew’s experience will help take the much-loved venue to new heights, and he is looking forward to getting behind the bar following the refurbishment.

In October, The Tipsy will be completely revitalised, including a full redecoration of the interior, which will comprise new seating areas, a DJ booth and a revamped bar area. In addition, the design of the site will be altered to reveal original structural assets, in order to create a more modern and youthful atmosphere for customers to enjoy.

Throughout the year, when Government guidance permits, The Tipsy will host performances from a range of local DJs, comedians and live singers on a weekly basis, providing customers with the opportunity to support local talent within a warm yet lively atmosphere. In addition, a new drinks menu will be introduced to include a range of beer and wine, as well as more premium spirits including Bombay Sapphire Gin. A brand-new cocktail menu will also be on offer for the first time.

Andrew said: “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to take on a site that has such amazing potential. Hawthorn Leisure has been very supportive throughout this process, in particular, Liz Brady, my Business Development Manager, who has enabled me to push myself to get the Tipsy on track.

I am excited to see what the future will bring for this incredible venue in such a great location.”

Hawthorn Leisure Director of Leased and Tenanted Operations, Andy Parker said, said: “Andrew is a hugely experienced operator, and we’re delighted that he’s going to be running the newly named Tipsy. Following the rebrand and refurbishment, we hope the pub will welcome back old regulars, as well new customers, who I’m sure will enjoy the site’s more contemporary atmosphere, increased drinks menu, and new entertainment offer.”
