The Staging Post, Airdrie, has won the title of Best Pub in the Summer of Sport Window Display Contest in celebration of Euro 2020 and the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Run by North Lanarkshire Council, the competition challenged local businesses to decorate their windows in a way they saw fit to celebrate the long-awaited sporting events. The Staging Post, managed by Pub Partner Michelle McLenachen, scooped the prize in the pub category after impressing the judge - Lord Provost of North Lanarkshire, Jean Jones - with their eye-catching display of Scottish flags, photographs and football-themed decorations.

The pub is owned by Hawthorn, the community pub company, which owns more than 700 pubs across Scotland, England and Wales.

In recognition of their achievement, Michelle and the staff were also paid a visit by the Lord Provost, who stopped by to congratulate everyone on their impressive work.

Andrew Parker, Director of Leased and Tenanted Operations at Hawthorn, said: “It’s fantastic news that The Staging Post have won this prize. At Hawthorn we encourage all our Partners to be community heroes and it’s great to see Michelle and the team getting stuck in to the community spirit.  I would like to congratulate everyone at The Staging Post on their hard work on behalf of everyone at Hawthorn.”
